I'm surprised that nobody's made an article about subatomic particles. This should be a first.
coldposted, but thanks to anyone that read this before.

This has the vibe of one of them good Series I articles.
Everyone needs a little Series I in their lives.
Holy crap
I… yeah. As mentioned above this calls to mind Series 1. Actually, it feels like a fusion of Series 1 and 5. Nice work!
Thanks! I tend to write a lot of Series I-esque scips so I was a little worried that this one wouldn't go so well.
Twist on this one is well executed, especially given the short length.
One minor nitpick, the following broke my flow of reading for a moment:
does not appear to be composed of quarks but of something else entirely
Just sounded a bit casual. Maybe go with “… but of unidentified exotic matter”. That could just be me though, so feel free to ignore.
You use all the right ingredients here for some solid flash fiction: a build-up that's snappy and a payoff with extreme consequences. Nicely done, +1
(Also: Nice character name!)
How would you even find this thing?
Like, how do you find a literal atom on a planet? -1, I just can't see any plausible explanation on how the Foundation found this particular particle.
Honestly, I wanted to make a discovery log that the Foundation managed to pinpoint the location of the atom because they were detecting some weird radio signals emanating from somewhere in its own unused containment chamber.
I admit that it's like finding a really specific needle in a haystack of needles, but that's just my headcanon that the Foundation has tech that's about 50 years more advanced than the current bleeding-edge tech of today to cope with the physics-breaking anomalies that would allow them to detect the radio signals.
That, and it would've made for a pretty short and boring discovery log :P
I'm not sure why the foundation would involve 914 in the testing, since the outputs are seemingly random and you can't be sure what the refined needle would do.
The Foundation needs to make something smaller than an atom to reach SCP-4192. I don't think they could ever make anything on a subatomic scale.
I'm pretty sure that they tested that needle before using it in an experiment.
