This is a theory that the outputs from SCP-914 have been getting decreasingly "anomalous" over time, so Intern Voltê, Intern Walker, Intern Snevets, Junior Researcher Kai and Maintenance Technician Johnson are going to try and find out exactly what's wrong with it.
Some people at Site-19 Facility 23 were discussing how destructible 914 was, and the topic gradually shifted to how 914 has worn down significantly over the years and now wasn't as strong as it used to be.
In order to restore 914's functionality, we need to know how it works. Three theories were put forward as to how 914 functioned in creating the anomalous outputs it did while still obeying the principle of the conservation of mass.
1. As the conservation of energy is very difficult to calculate, the first theory by Intern Walker proposes that a minute amount of mass is lost between the intake and the output, which is so small that it wouldn't be noticed or missed even during testing. This mass is then converted to energy through currently unknown means (possibly anomalously efficient nuclear fusion). As noted by Intern Walker, this theory is most likely impossible as 914 is noted by senior staff to 100% conserve mass between the intake and output. Walker can decide what his research yields.
2. The second theory by Intern Snevets proposes that the conservation of energy by 914 is anomalously efficient. As 914 has been detected to have no other form of power other than the key attached to the mainspring located directly below the selection panel, the second theory requires testing of the mainspring to measure the energy conversion efficiency of the mainspring. Snevets will be doing research on this.
3. The third and final theory by a guest researcher is that 914 draws energy from another dimension or plane of existence that is powered by a god-like entity (the Broken God, perhaps) and utilises this energy to refine objects placed in it. (I.e.: completely anomalous and potentially requiring reclassification of 914.) Will be updated if the guest researcher decides to pursue this theory as part of his sabbatical from his current posting.
Next, Intern Voltê and Junior Researcher Kai suggested removing the Output booth for maintenance (as it is heavily scarred from the occasional anomalous entity, dents, bulletholes, stains, scratches and ridiculously dangerous materials like Francium), as well as checking the exposed hole from the removed booth. Voltê and I will discuss what's next.

Update 1: Leveritas has kindly shared with us the original tale for SCP-914 and we've decided on a new general direction for this project that will not result in everyone involved being amnesticized and thrown out of the Foundation. Do check in on the above link on our current progress.
Update 2: Click here to go to our sandbox for important collab info.
Update 3: We've run into a writing drought, but check out the above sandbox link for a preview of the chapters we've written so far.
