Right but lots of other dryads do use it, yes?
Yes, but those that do are still a relatively small minority of the dryad population.
Given her circumstances, it doesn't strikes me as Stockholm. The syndrome have several other defining characteristics than just liking your "kidnapper".
Otherwise, good work.
I like where you took it. Good job. And I'm sorry I didn't get around to reviewing some of the later updates. But this is cool.
It is quite a step up from the initial draft, i would say. I personally can't imagine dryads burning trees though.
The greater implication is that there may be an entire subculture of trees that have upgraded themselves with human technology and seen as weird (though it feels more like New Age than witchcraft from my POV, but they're trees).
There's no small number of people around who can't tell 'new age' from 'witchcraft' from the outside. No reason to believe that trees would be any less conservative and reactionary than humans.
Besides, think about how much more technologically advanced we are than trees.
If you must compare humanity to trees, we are probably like Cthulhu to those poor saps. Our technology would be beyond mere magic and likened to the works of eldritch abominations.
You had to point it out, now a pun thread will sprout up here.
"No! You [amateur/newcomer/novice?]!"
Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to the translation?
Noob? Yeah, these dryads are totally new age…
On that note, how did they even pick up human slang?
The same could be asked as to how they have tech at all. Authorial headcanon assumes that at one point a dryad befriended a modern human, then got introduced to the interweb, then spread access to the interweb to other dryads, thus beginning the subculture. Then again, other interpretations are welcome. I agree that the technodryads might see themselves as new agey, but from the other dryads' perspective, this subculture just leaped into something that they have no idea what to think of. Pair that with Clarke's Third Law and BOOM, witchcraft.
Subject expressed happiness both when viewing the image, and when next exposed to Junior Researcher █████.
What if this is a dating site and she's trying to pick up human males?
Anyway, I love this. It builds very nicely on itself as you move through the article.
This particular article wasn't meant to be an anomalous dating website. We probably should get one eventually though…
Psst, DreamwalkerFae, we have two anomalous dating websites already. :P
This is great, Dryad geeks, love it.
Could use more of addendum 2, just because I'm greedy
If you have any suggestions, I would be glad to consider adding them.
