Inspired by real life events in which I skipped a class so often I almost forgot it existed.

Also directly prompted by a dream I had most likely based on these events in which I was apparently unaware I was even enrolled in a class, and had skipped it so often that I didn't even know what the class was or where it was.

I made a couple of grammar cleanups before I upvoted.

I had to drop out of college for a semester after I stopped sleeping and got to where I couldn't even remember what day it was, much less what classes I was supposed to be going to.

I really, really like this. There's so much mindfuckery going on, it leaves the reader completely disoriented. This is what a good, subtle reality bending something should look like. Nothing is obvious, nothing is overstated, everything is just there.

And it's great.

This works so well on so many levels. I found myself wondering if it wasn't Dixieland Nightmare Magic, mostly because of the citation footnote. (Though the redacted location really should have disabused me of that notion.)

I mean, on the one hand, you've got the nightmare of all nightmares of college registration (which I've never experienced myself, but I've heard stories). Then you've got a phenomenon that should by all rights be Keter, and I have a feeling it's not just because they can't verify anything one way or another. All the high-level secrets stuff keeps things interesting, and good on you for making an inter-Foundational research citation actually be narratively important! (Not to mention I'm really intrigued by "The Inconsistent Carbo Family".)

The more you think about this, the more you realize we can't do shit about it. Sure, those people were confirmed to be working here X years ago, but what if they were created longer ago than that? What if the Director is fucking with the results? It's like, holy shit, this could be one of the worst containment breaches in Foundation history, and we can't even know for sure. Fantastic.

ehh mehh...

Almost every point you make here is exactly what I was going for/poking at with a stick. I even intentionally made the Foundation-citation thing specifically for the plot point, despite having gone around expressing mild disapproval of the practice in other articles.

Shouldn't it be "two professors possessed no" instead of "contained no"? Also, "I don't how long" should be "I don't know how long"

As before: far too long for too little payoff. The ending bit was a bit nice, but by that point my eyes had glazed over.

Mainly while reading this I thought "man, qtnm's new tale was cool", and if all my enjoyment from reading something is thinking about another piece of work, then that's rarely a good sign.
