Ok so there are a lot of people who I need to thank for making this thing happen.
TroyL - Greenlighting and administrative support/conceptual assistance
thedeadlymoose - administrative support/conceptual assistance
Crayne - technical guidance (and probably magic idk) and code shit (definitely magic)
LurkD - saving my ass with the pages by author stuff (literally a wizard)
anqxyr - tagging 1500 tales to make this shit work.
And undoubtedly others. This would not have happened without the support of the administration, technical team, and anybody else who contributed. My eternal thanks.
NOTE: There are going to be some issues, and we're going to try our best to work those out. Please be patient with us, and we'll make sure this is working 100% as soon as possible!
MAJOR EDIT NOTE: The current format of the tales page (a much, much improved format) is courtesy of anqxyr, who has put in a lot of work over the last few months to make this as good as it can be. Many thanks to you, anq, we all appreciate it.
Remember, now you can update your pages on the Series and Author Tales [X] lists with short summaries about the tale (like I've done with mine, broken sephirots not necessary). This will encourage more tale readership and is overall a fun update to the tale format. Get blurbing!
Wait, how do you do this?
The blurb thing on the tale hub page prints the first words of text on the tale it's referencing. Now, if that text happens to be set to size 0% font, it won't necessarily be the first readable text on the tale.
/me ruins all the secrets
The preview code has been updated to work with the new tale hubs, and hopefully to be easier to use. Anyone who used size:0% shenanigans before are welcome to update their pages to use the new preview component.
Ok, but what if we wanna make our little preview snippet shorter than whatever it currently is? Like, all of my stuff has the preview I want, plus the start of the story. Do I just need to make my snippet longer?
The new preview component should take care of that for you. Just write what you want to write, and it should just work.
Ok, I did the thing, but it's still not doing the thing. Does it take time to update?
Replying to self to reiterate the question: does it take time to update?
Can you be more specific about what you're asking here?
I edited the preview component blocks and the hubs are still showing the old preview snippets.
Hmm. Might want to double-check the code with a technical team staff member. There sometimes is a delay for pages to display, but it's usually only a few minutes or so.
