Hello everyone,
as one of the newest addition to this site I believe that I really should introduce myself. My name is Ondřej(Czech equivalent of Andrew, hence my nickname), I am 18 years old and I'm from The Czech Republic.

I'm very interested in linguistics, especially in the English language. After finishing all my schools, I would love to continue in this field.

However, my biggest interest at the moment is historical fencing. I am taught the german school of fencing with long swords, generally late medieval times. While no expert, I am taught by one of the (in my humble opinion) best Czech fencers, so I believe that his teachings might be worth something.

I really wish to learn, and I hope to help anyone that might be interested in some information about my knowledge.

So, hello!

Hello. I go by the name Faidra in most of my online mediums. I was linked the SCP Foundation by a friend, specifically 993 as I always need extra encouragements to cringe in terror at clowns. I began clicking around and before I knew it had spent several hours and allowed late night informercials to actually run with an audience. The site was a display of not only quality fiction, but the fact that it is possible to have comment sections that don't become consumed with assertions regarding the moral fiber of one's mother.

A discussion on the IRC channel raised this point - we kind of forgot to keep track of the sources for the SCP images and relevant copyright information. Would it be of interest to do so, either as its own page or as extra data in the image template?

Hello everyone. My name is thelastlambda, newcomer to the SCP foundation, oldcomer to creepypasta. I found out about the SCP from a gaming forum referring to [REDACTED FOR FEAR OF BEING CALLED THE STANDARD, UNINFORMED NEWBIE]. It piqued my interest and someone later quoted that the idea came from the SCP. I naturally was interested and looked it up. I loved some of the stories I was reading but thought for a second that this site was the "loony bin" of conspiracy theorist and ghost story tellers. When I did some further looking around, I realized it was all just really good fiction. I was so interested in it I join in on the chat (note I hate irc so if I take the steps to join in, I like it a lot) and read all the required reading. I was approved today and cannot wait to write some stories (that will probably be shitty the first few times judging by the requirements :P)

Anyway, I am PR manager and occasionally host the gaming podcast, podcast 17, I am mainly a PC gamer (sometimes on xbox for BF3), and always love to talk to people. If you are interested in playing a game on steam or want to talk, I am always on steam chat.

SCP Idea (of course): Natural Selection

http://scpsandboxwiki.wikidot.com/natural-selection

Basically, it's an Artificial Intelligence that has integrated itself with technology that allows it to "select" people to die, for whatever reason. It's explained better on the page itself.

If I can get the main file sorted then I can expand to do an Incident Log of the recorded deaths that seem to be caused by the AI, but right now I'm uncertain as to whether it reads well, or if it's all a bit rubbish. I think it's somewhere between "pretty decent" and "good idea written badly", but I'd love to get some feedback on what's there so far, and possible advice on how to spruce it up.

Bare in mind this is my first crack at the SCP writing lark; hopefully it's a reasonable first effort. I just want to be confident it doesn't read terribly before I think about putting it up on this site.

This is my first SCP article, so I need a LOT of criticism and as much harsh review as possible. I've tried to keep it as objective as I can, but I haven't included any test logs yet. I am also yet to find an image I deem suitable for the teeth, so I hope the placeholder is fine.

Also, I know I should write in metric (and I have). When you see "imperial foot", understand that it is because the item itself 'works' in feet and it is therefore easier to say "each foot". (P.S. Please don't kill me.)

I'm not an exceptional writer … so if anyone else thinks the idea is worth polishing, I have no problem with it being remade. In fact, since most people on this site are probably better writers than me I'd actually advise someone else redoing it.

Here

Well, hello.

On one of my rare visits to /x/, I stumbled across a thread about the "game" of SCP-087-B. I proceeded to download and play it, and after enjoying being a big baby about it, I managed to track this place down. Since then, I've been browsing through SCPs (up to about 260 so far) and thought I'd make an account to try and contribute my own additions, as well as get into the community a bit.

I have some writing experience from gaming journalism (currently write for a site now and then, not done too much lately though), but haven't done too much "creative" writing since college. Gonna try and change that around here, and hopefully not cock up horrendously. Somewhere between playing too many video games and spending too much money on gigs and festivals, I'll try to write something at least half-decent. I have a couple of ideas, and it feels like the sensible thing to do.

Also, whoever wrote SCP-106 (mainly for the picture choices) gave me a horrific night's sleep on Friday night. So thanks for that.

Hello all, feel free to call me TL. I'm 30, from Ohio in the United States, and I'm a writer, a fate I would not wish on my worst enemy.

My first encounter with this site was through that Youtube video someone made for SCP-087. After being introduced to the site proper, I proceeded to lose about 24 straight hours of productivity, and continued to delve into various articles over the course of last week. After starting a list of ideas of my own, I got the nerve up to apply and now here I am!

Aside from writing, I'm into linguistics and general nerd things. While I hope I can use my editing powers to good effect around here, I'm also looking forward to developing my ability to write horror and creepy things, because it's definitely not a strong suit. A little give and take, that's what I'm looking for!

I do have a question. As I'm unfamiliar with Wikidot, what's the best way to keep up with this site? I've just been browsing the newest pages every day, but with forums and whatnot, I'm really not sure where to start!

So yeah, I may have some trouble. Ok, here's the short version. Recently I somehow managed to completely obliterate the screen on my laptop (don't ask how). So, I have only managed to get my introductions into the intro section of the forum. I am completely unable to access the chat from my iPhone which I have been using to view the site. I have ideas that I was just going to throw into the air in the forum and see if they take shape but, as one of the newbiest newbies ever, I'm in no position to post SCPs or do much more than comment and post threads. So I could really use some advice and or lots of help.

If I posted this in the wrong are let me know, but this seemed like the most fitting place.

I and a friend spend random lunch hours hashing out ideas for SCPs, though I've never submitted a successful one (until now, hopefully) and I don't think she's ever submitted one at all.

The ideas we've had and developed jointly, or that I've bounced off her, are thus:

1. Time Pit/Space Pit - Her version is Time Pit, a gravel pit about thirty feet deep where the flow of time slows exponentially as you approach the bottom. Someone who fell into the pit would see everyone outside begin to move exponentially faster, and would see Armageddon when they finished. My version is Space Pit, a pit that goes down thirty feet from the outside and an infinite distance inside. The further you fall, the more space is stretched, and the flatter you seem to outside observers. Time is unaffected, though the pit has technically-infinite distance. Digging up through the bottom of the Space Pit has been done, it's about thirty feet down from the outside, the effects don't extend outside the walls of the pit, and it's just a regular pit about six feet to a side from the bottom, with no visible light source. Efforts have begun to build a staircase to reach the surface, carved into the pit walls. Digging through the walls of the Space Pit, or any part of the Time Pit, is impossible.

2. Alchemy - Idea I had recently. Brass chamber, about six feet tall and three feet across, no decorations, two levers on one side and a whole mess of pipes opposite the hatch that lead to four boxes. One lever is labelled "Ανάλυση" and the other is labelled "συναθροίζω." Pulling the first lever with something in the chamber causes the object to vanish and the boxes to fill with various amounts of the four 'old' elements, namely air, water, sulphur, and sand. Pulling the second lever with any amount of the four in the boxes causes a seemingly-random object to appear in the chamber.

3. [Anti-Music Man], an unfinished project I've been working on sporadically for the past year. Also, pretty much anything else in there.

Thoughts? Critiques? Suggestions for improvement? Any and all would be welcome.

Hello!

I just joined after probably over a year of lurking - huzzah!
I discovered this site thanks to a friend who showed me SCP-173. Being a person who has always had a fear of psychological and mysterious horror, naturally I didn't sleep that night*. Since then I have read hundreds of SCP articles, and I've finally decided its time I joined in with the site.

*When something makes me truly scared, it keeps me up all night thinking about it. Once, when I was younger (about 10, I believe), I spent the night UNDER my bed, because I was scared of a monster I had imagined which was ABOVE the bed (contrary much?). Every now and then I dream I'm being abducted by aliens, and I generally have nightmares if I sleep.

How I haven't had some kind of heart problem, I don't know. Funnily enough, I actually enjoy being terrified, it makes life much more exciting when you feel like you're going to be in excruciating pain from some unknown entity hiding around a corner.

Oh man, I really waffled for that long…I'd better stop.
By the way, I wasn't joking in that last paragraph. Look out of the window behind you. ;)

This is an old idea I had some time ago. Thinking back on it, I realised it fits rather well with the current theme of inverting SCPs, but I did not intend it to be that when I thought about it (I'm not even sure I had yet read the SCP of which it could be an inversion).

The SCP is a small object, possibly of a very simple shape (I had thought it as a cube, but geometrical shapes seem to be frowned upon, so it may as well be a pen eraser or a plush toy). People exposed to it will become obsessed by it, and keep examining it over and over. If they are removed from the SCP, they will keep describing the object in excruciating details, in whichever media they are comfortable with.
An intellectually-challenged D-class may for instance talk about it at length with his own vocabulary, while a researcher will write papers after papers for describing this SCP. The effect may wane slowly after time, but affected subjects will keep referring to the object in their everyday conversations or written materials.
A side effect of this is that the Foundation now possess an extremely extensive documentation on a very common object that has no other special properties.

My notion is there's some abandoned missile silo that became a privatized research lab where some sort of dimensional portal was opened or some other extremely localized but mysterious threat came into being, possibly of a mystical nature instead of just pseudoscientific. When SCP is contacted by the local government to investigate the situation, there's one mutated (or something) survivor or something in there, and that person claims the situation seems currently under control but that opening the containment area will be extremely dangerous as would moving that survivor somewhere else. Analysis by the research team confirms the survivor's report and that whatever containment in place needs to be reinforced indefinitely, which is the reason why the Foundation doesn't just leave, investigate directly, or neutralize the site. Because it basically just means having guards on hand and providing power to the laboratory, the personnel is switched out largely with less expensive trainees and the guards become extremely bored and start messing about. The person in the lab becomes progressively more pissed at the bunglers up top, which possibly somehow results in a temporary containment breach. There'd be the usual matter-of-fact "Containment" and "Description," with all the story in diary entries.

Thanks for your time.

My idea for an SCP is a simple fan that when flipped on will continue to produce exponentially more intense wind speeds depending on the length of time it is plugged in. Eventually the wind will get so great however it will fling the fan across the room ripping the fan out of the outlet. When bolted down the fan is capable of producing absolutely devastating gusts that can destroy almost any structure in its path.

I have had this idea for a while and wanted to finally get someones opinion on it.

Since my first attempt turned out to have already been done to a degree, I had a quick brainstorm and this is what I came up with.

A cassette tape and case. On the cassette are embossed the words "Teach Yourself -", with a space for a small peelable sticker, an unspecified number of which are contained in the case.

If someone were to write [JAPANESE] on a sticker, attach it to the cassette and play it, they would hear a 'listen and repeat'-style series of lessons in the Japanese language. The contents would be tailored to their needs or learning ability and, should they reach the end of the tape, continue on the other side ad infinitum until the person had utterly mastered the language.
Writing "Teach Yourself - [JAPAN]" however, would result in a lengthy and exact account of the history and culture of Japan. Any attempts to digitise, copy or erase the tape's contents would be met with either failure or [EXPUNGED].

Experiment logs would eventually lead into testing for other, more abstract concepts such as [SCIENCE] or [CONFIDENCE], eventually leading to a suitably worrisome [DATA EXPUNGED].

Thoughts?

Somehow this idea came to me. I don't know how or why but it seems like it could be interesting.

This is a disease that technically doesn't exist. It is not caused by a pathogen or other physical condition. It is transmitted by a subject thinking he has the disease. The disease then enters a primary stage where mild but worsening random symptoms occur. These symptoms can vary between normal things like fevers, to unusual stuff like tissues being converted into other materials. However, these are all mild and will rarely do much other than confuse the subject. These symptoms cannot be treated and will often distress the subject, leading into the secondary stage.

After a certain length of time, the disease will enter a secondary stage where the subject's thoughts about the disease are translated into actual symptoms. Things like heavy fevers, brain damage, physical mutations, and especially death can occur. These symptoms persist, strengthening until a) the subject dies or b) the subject is convinced he has no disease.

Sandbox coming if the idea can work out…

Sad yet ironic. I consider myself good at coming up with potential ideas, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty I tend to get frustrated and lose interest. Sadly, details are what the Foundation is all about.

I've been lurking for months, and have yet to actually publish anything. My current sandbox page is a sullen, depressing list of half-attempted SCPs and other horrors. Regardless, here's some potential concepts free to anyone, with the hope that I'll be able to add to the site in some way.

+ Displaced Predator" hide = "- Hide

– hide block

A person or creature. All light they reflect and all sound they make do not appear until X minutes into the future. Originally going to be a person, who has grown quite mad and murderous due being unable to hold a proper conversation or have anyone notice him. Interviews with the foundation are done via Keypad and computer, which can be operated easily and instantly. He also believes that his after-image is some kind of monster that's constantly stalking him, and refuses to touch it or be near it too long.

+ Ruinsception" hide = "- Hide

– hide block

An enormous ruined structure underground, clearly some sort of prison or vault with advanced weaponry, defenses, and architecture. After much effort the Foundation breaks in and discovers another set of ruins of different make, slightly less advanced. The foundation also breaks in with effort, and finds more ruins of different make, slightly less advanced and sturdy. This continues for a while, with each layer becoming easier to penetrate. As of the time of the entry, the volume of the ruins getting very small indeed, with maybe one or two layers made of clay, rocks, and rotted shamanistic charms. Command is wondering whether or not it's worth finding out what's in the last chamber, considering all the effort made to lock it up.

The picture of a 30's phone on a recent and short-lived SCP inspired me.
My notion is of an administrator in the thirties who was transmogrified into a biological telephone. Due to his wealth of Foundation experience, as well as manpower shortages, entity is wired into an isolated phone system completely contained in Research site 71. Today he continues to take calls from a series of antiquated phones placed around the building.
After I wrote the idea down I dug up a vague memory from long ago where someone got turned into a piece of equipment, metal on the outside, and organic within. I couldn't find it searching today.

Now, I've only been on the site for a few days, but I had to get this out (if only to vent). I love reading the Discussion logs of SCPs to get insight into how they were made/fixed/adjusted, as well as seeing other people's reactions. It seemed that some people were rather quick to anger, though. Even if they didn't overtly yell "Get it through your thick skull, moron!", the tone was a little unreasonably harsh. Or so I thought.

After reading some really well-written SCPs, and then seeing some of the complaints voiced, along with reasons for downvoting, I am starting to see many of the regular posters' reasoning quite clearly. Without naming names, I'll give the example that really brought it into focus. SCP-1004. I read Bright's 001 proposal before reading this, so of course my view of 1004 is going to be colored a certain (blech) way. I tend to equate The Factory with just about the most negative things you can on this site (and I mean that in a good way). 1004 was a nice blend of creep, mystery, and Factory, well worth the upvote.

What I saw in the Discussion threw me a bit. I understand that people have their own opinions, and I am very new to the site, but even taking those factors into consideration, there were multiple posts from people that just didn't seem to get certain (or all) aspects of the SCP. When Bright eventually burst out with "That's the point!", I was right there.

Anyway. I'm not sure how to turn this into a productive thread, other than to say…does anyone else get this way? Does it get easier to take? I do my best to rein in my volatile nature, hopefully it'll be enough.

Hi there! I just joined and have looked a rather large amount of the SCPs over. I had a concept for one, and wanted to run it by the group:

The concept is for an un-hero (an anti-hero would be more accurate of a title aside from the grimdark and gritty connotations). What this would mean is that at the most basic, the person would have seemed almost superheroic, a high level metahuman/demon/???/profit sort of creature that tried to right wrongs and overall do good works. Unfortunately, whenever he helps someone, no matter how incidental it is, he damns them to a considerably worse fate later.

For examples, a person saved from a knife-wielding mugger would die in a massive gang war later, their body riddled with bullets. A person saved from a fire would find themselves burned to a crisp at some point later. Saved from a fall? Paraplegic. It would, as the SCP would find out when apprehended, even involve remarkably incidental things; so much as pulling a chair out to offer to someone would cause them to have some sort of ridiculous hip-breaking injury in the immediate future.

I'll keep it brief. I found out about this website through a YouTube interpretation of SCP-087 that I STILL haven't had the guts to actually watch. I spent nearly that entire day reading through just a few of these SCPs, and I am well and thoroughly hooked.

I have to admit, when I first looked through SCP-173 it seemed a bit too much like the Weeping Angels, but it's different enough, and it's creep factor and the quality of writing launch it well past those initial fears. SCP-682 already feels like an ultimate ultimate (if that makes sense), and the combination of entertaining (SCP-914) and unsettling (SCP-231…people who think they know disturbing don't yet know 110-Montauk) is insane in a good way.

Anyway, this place is amazing, and I hope I can eventually contribute my own SCP. I had an idea, but after reading the ideas that have been done to death, I really think that mine was a bit too close to one of those ideas, without *quite* the difference or hook I need to distinguish it. Until then, I'll settle for editing and the discussions.

Well, that's it. Thanks for reading it!

Hello all!

I got a link from this on Tvtropes at least two years ago (I believe the particular SCP I looked up was 701, which as an aspiring actor I found incredibly freaky), and I've always found a lot of this site fascinating. I've been lurking on and off for most of that time, but I only really started thinking about applying a week or two ago. I'd previously considered joining shortly after I started lurking, but the extremely complex application form at that time scared me off. Thanks to everyone for making such an addictive site, and thanks to Bright for letting me in (I hope you aren't going to regret it).

I've got an idea or two for articles rattling around in my head that have accumulated during my lurkership, but I'm going to keeping looking around the wiki and seeing what sort of articles are well-received here before I start typing. I'll probably be roaming the wiki voting on articles and adding discussion comments in the near future.

Just looking for a bit of feedback on a couple ideas I've had, so I can focus on fleshing one out and making it as good as possible. So far I have:

-A creature that feeds off of positive energy like a drug. Emits pheromones that make a victim experience elation, self-esteem, and confidence. When the being has had its fill it moves on to a different location, causing the victim to suddenly "crash" and spiral into serious depression and suicide. The SCP itself is actually benign and means no harm to its target, and cannot help that its "friend" dies when he leaves. For added creep factor, victims that have discovered the source of their newfound confidence become desperate and frightened, and go to great (and dangerous) lengths to keep it in their home.

and

-A man who experiences random fits in which he sings at a decibel level so high that it causes deafness and ruptures eardrums.

I have a lot more material for number one, obviously, but I just wanted to get a couple opinions on what would work for either of these. Advice, constructive criticism, and pitiless mockery are all welcome.

The base idea for this SCP is simple, it's a spray cleaner that will remove any mark or blemish from anything, stains, drawings, tattoos, wrinkles, etc.
It could be made more sinister, but that's the base idea, didn't want to go overboard and do a SUPER KETER LOLOL thing, and I find safe level SCP's interesting to read.

New here and all that. My first exposure with the site was via various repostings of #173 over 4chan, but didn't become aware that there were more articles along that line until a random reddit posting about a month ago via a private forum I frequent. I've been absorbing articles nightly since then and I felt compelled to try to help if I could.

In particular, I like how the sci-fi aspects of the site aren't the same run-into-the-ground garbage I've seen a million times. "Hey, [PROBLEM] sucks! Let's use any number of [POWERFUL THING] we have on hand solve [PROBLEM]." All of the SCP termination stories/entries seem to be geared to showing of all the [POWERFUL THING] the Foundation has one had won't work or are a bad idea to attempt using. Really forces a person to be creative (I've been trying to think is there is anything the Foundation has that would be suitable for neutralizing #515…every time I think I've got something, I realize I've ignored one of the rules about this guy).

Also #212 seems like it would have amazing potential for awesomeness.

How's the new year treating everyone else?

I've been working on this idea for a while, however I found myself totally stuck.

Here's what I've came up with now, SCP: That's My Name, Don't Wear It Out

My initial idea is very simple: A thing that has the anomalous property that makes anyone who wishes to mention its "Name" in verbal or writing form cannot use the same "Name" twice. Example: if someone mentioned this SCP as "a key", then no one else can mentioned this SCP as "a key" anymore.

I'm not very satisfied with this idea, since it doesn't pose much of a threat (nor creepy). After pondering the main concept for a few days, I added one more anomalous property to this SCP: any words that were used to describe this SCP cannot be used again anymore.

And yes, you guess it right, that's how I got myself stuck. Suddenly I found out that if I'm a researcher of this SCP, I won't be able to write a report about this damn thing at all!

Right now the only solution (as a researcher who has to write this report) I've came up with is adding a five-digit hexadecimal number in front of every word in the report (thus making every word used to name or describe this SCP can be used 165 times). I'm not very sure about this idea since it will make this report very hard to read.

Any suggestions guys?

Hello, I've a few ideas to donate to the Foundation but I need some site veterans to tell me if they're:
1.) Lame
2.) Already exist
3.) If ideas need further details (or redaction of certain ones)
This is just one of my ideas.

Click here to read about them!

Thanks for the help!

SCP Idea #1: The Name Plate
One of those things that you see on or beside a door, with a slip of paper inserted that explains what is behind the door, or who (ex. Janitorial Equipment, or Dr. Bob). I apologize if I'm not using the correct word to refer to this object, but I will from this point on call it a name plate. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Description:

At first glance the SCP appears perfectly normal. Silver in color.

When a slip of paper with the name of any place, person, or setting is put into the name plate, the door on which it is "bonded" with will become a portal to that destination.

If the name of a person is written, the door will form a portal to that persons' location. The person in question may step through the door and anyone else that happens to be on the other side. It acts as a two way portal. If the person is deceased, the door will show a wall of an unknown substance with the words "OUT OF RANGE" printed in black letters. The door will bring you to the location of the deceased, however, if the person has died less than six (6) hours ago. After the six (6) hour limit, when the other side of the door is caught up to the time when the door was opened, the door will immediately close and all subjects sent into the door that have not returned will be lost, presumed dead.

If the name of a location is written, the door will form a portal to that location. However, if a generalized location is given, say, "United States of America", then the door will become a portal to a random location inside of the given one. Additional details must be given if the user wants to arrive at a specific location. Ex.- " #### Building, # floor, Room #."

If the name of a fictional setting is written, the door will form a portal to that setting and to the universe of that setting. Example: "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry". The door would form a portal inside of the school and the entire world would be open to the user. (I realize that there is a SCP that already does something to this extent. I believe it was a pair of bookends.) The fictional setting does not have to be from a book or movie, just firmly imagined in the writers mind.

Retrieval of characters to our world is possible, but all characters vanish from our world within six (6) hours upon bringing said character into our world. Character retains all characteristics, including powers, personality, appearance, weaknesses, and all belongings the character had with them upon arrival to our world.

If the name of the location and a time within six (6) hours of using the door is given, the door will take you to the location at that time. Any time outside of this range will always leave the door opening to blackness eternity. Any D class sent inside have never returned. Faint whispering has been heard to emanate from the door, sometimes in recognizable languages and sometimes unknown. Any whispering that is understood has lead to panic attacks and a development of severe agoraphobia. All who were subjected to the whispering have since forgotten what was said, only that "… it made them understand."

Anything written along the lines of "Best place ever" will always form a portal to the location the writer believes is the best place ever, and therefore changes from person to person. The door always opens to the place the writer perceives he is describing, not the one opening the door.

In an interesting experiment, one D class subject of the Christian faith was told to write "Heaven" upon the paper and insert it into the name plate. Subject complied, and upon opening the door, it revealed a wall made of an unknown substance with the words "OUT OF RANGE" printed in large black letters. Any subject shown "Heaven" or any other out of range location, will see the letters in the language that they understand the best.

In a follow up experiment, one atheist D class subject was told to write "Heaven" and open the door. Upon opening the door, D class was meet with darkness. (not the same darkness encountered when attempting to go beyond the time barrier, but a darkness with a sense of nothingness.) Subject was recorded as saying "Ha, I knew it was all bullshit."

It appears through further testing, that if the writer of the destination does not believe the destination exists, the door will open to either:

The wall made of the unknown substance (minus the out of range text)

The whispering darkness

Or the "darkness made of nothing".

This does not apply to books of fiction that the writer has read. No known reasons for this.

The SCP in itself is not dangerous, but it provides access to things that are. Needless to say, the Foundation would perceive this to be a large security threat, what with having the ability to bypass any and all security to enter a place and procure characters who can have near limitless power. I believe the class of this would be "Euclid".

Please give constructive criticism, and keep in mind this is my first attempt to make an SCP. - FredTheNaughtyBarber

Hello everyone, pleasure to make your acquaintance. I've been reading through the site almost religiously ever since I saw an obscure reference to SCP-087 on another site. Didn't know what it was, googled it, and here I am. At the time of writing I'd say I've been lurking the site for, say, a week, and so far I'm loving it. Still feel like a newbie, but know my way around after some heavy reading.
Before anyone asks, my name "FredTheNaughtyBarber", is not a sexual innuendo. Rather, a reference to the television show "Courage the Cowardly Dog". I find the show and the site to compliment each other quite nicely.
I've had some SCP ideas floating about in my head for awhile, and I'll take a shot with them in the (hopefully) near future.

Hey all. I work a very boring job, which gives me a lot of time to think about random junk; as of late, I've been considering multiple ideas for SCPs, most of these ideas being discarded, but there are two I think may have potential here. To keep things succinct, I'll be listing the attributes of these items in bullet points, as I'm just trying to get some validation and feedback on the basic ideas of these SCPs.

The first is "The Bed" (obviously these aren't the official titles I'll be giving them)

A basic twin sized cot, nothing of interest appearance-wise

Subjects report unusually vivid dreams when sleeping in said cot

Dreams consist of an ideal world for the subject, all of their aspirations fulfilled, thriving socially and economically, ect. (each dream is subjective, and varies in detail from person to person). Subjects also report that the dreams feel much longer than normal ones.

Dreams tend to center around a character who the subject is invariably attracted to (this character is their ideal lover manifest)

Upon waking, subjects invariably report depression, dysphoria, and general feelings of discomfort

Subjects seek to return to the dream world created by the SCP, though normal beds do not cause this world to manifest in dreams

After repeated use of the SCP, subjects begin to build a tolerence to it; the dream world gradually begins to grow less and less utopian, yet the subject's "addiction" to it does not waver

After prolonged use of the SCP, subjects begin to report hallucinations of their manifested "lover" from the dreams, and become convinced that they are calling them back to dream world

Many cases end in the suicide of the subject, often through overdose of various pills and medications, in most cases the subjects are found dead on the cot

That about wraps up the basics of it, hopefully it sounds viable to you. The next one I like to call

"The Website"

A website which dates back to the beginning of the world wide web

Subjects who use the website find that it is dedicated entirely to them

The website contains detailed information on the subjects life (almost like a precursor to the wikia system)

There are multiple photos of friends, family and major events from the subject's life, regardless of whether a camera was present or not

Do these sound worth writing out? Any ideas on how I can build upon and improve these ideas? Thanks in advanced, folks.

I'd imagine it varies greatly, depending on the type of entity being secured and contained, but what sort of off-the-shelf techniques would MTFs and Agents use to initially secure an anomaly prior to it becoming a contained SCP? Some things just are discovered and moved into containment, but if we're talking about some animal-ish thing, how might personnel go about catching it? I understand tranquilizer darts require some knowledge of a creature's physiology (weight, anatomy, etc) to actually be useful, and electric stunners have limits. And, for that matter, there's no guarantee either would work on something, considering how weird some of the stuff that needs to be captured is. Obviously, the Foundation wouldn't want to kill something if it doesn't need to. To reach into mythology for the sake of argument, how might the Foundation contain a ghost (as traditionally described)? Or a dragon? (And no, I'm not suggesting either of those as potential SCPs, simply as examples.)

I suppose the short version of this is: What sort of techniques and equipment would make up the "toolkit" for initial use prior to necessarily knowing anything definite about a dangerous entity? This might be an interesting thing to write up as an "in universe" orientation (beyond the Red Dawn one Waxx drafted a while back).

I found a creepy picture that got my brain bubbling. The idea is called 'Spawnwater'; A type of liquid that when applied to human flesh animates the applied area into a worm-type-thing that peels away from the host. Not lethal, but quite injurious. it may call for a really gross picture of a dermal avulsion (provided i can find the bit on the wikisyntax page that tell you how to make pics hidden until clicking. it'll be gross.)

thoughts, SCPeoples?

Update!:check out "spawnwater" in my sandbox! also i NEED TO KNOW if the pic for "untreated exposure" is too much!
